The Urantia Book is a gift to humanity. It claims angelic authorship. There is no hierarchical religion associated with it and no one claims to be the author. Many aspects of its origins were kept secret. This was done to limit well intentioned, but misdirected, attempts to assess its credibility based on beliefs about how it got here. And it allowed for a more solid and lasting foundation of credibility to develop based on appreciation for the superior quality of its teachings and the unique quality of credibility that grows from the emerging pattern of corroborations.
An exquisite theology, cosmology, and philosophy are revealed in this extremely informative and insightful text. It also recounts all the years of Jesus’ life and, in doing so, clears up many misunderstandings about his life, death, and teachings. The Urantia Book harmonizes theology, cosmology, and science and provides the extraordinary insights that come from learning our entire planetary history.
The Urantia Book, Science, and History
The Urantia Book puts its credibility on the line by claiming that its “historic facts. . .will stand on the records of the ages to come.” But permission to give advanced scientific information was restricted, according to its authors. Even still, there are numerous reports showing how we are catching up to some of its scientific information and, in corroborating its version of planetary history, scientific advances are, of course, playing a crucial role.
UBtheNEWS is not suggesting that The Urantia Book’s unique and emerging pattern of corroborations proves its claim of angelic authorship, only that after fifty years the pattern is becoming increasingly noteworthy and intriguing. Though scientists and scholars may not be justified in using it as an authoritative text, this book holds the intriguing possibility of providing clues that will allow the work of making scientific advances and new discoveries far more efficient.

A Select Summary of UBtheNEWS Science Reports
The Inner Ionosphere
The Urantia Book asserts that an “inner ionosphere” exists about seven miles above sea level. Atmospheric researchers have long held that the only region able to support the existence of an ionosphere starts at about fifty miles high.
In the late 1980’s, a phenomenon known as “blue jets” was finally documented. Because blue jets are flashes of blue light that emanate from the top of storm clouds, pictures proving their existence were not obtained until the Space Shuttles and other high flying aircraft were finally able to film them.
Previous undocumented reports by pilots had been dismissed because the existence of blue jets powerfully calls into question longstanding beliefs about the atmospheric conditions necessary for an ionosphere to exist. The blue jet phenomenon, however, is perfectly consistent with and corroborative of The Urantia Book’s assertion regarding the existence of an inner ionosphere.
Tycho’s Nova
In 1572 a supernova occurred that was so bright it could be seen in the sky during the day and took more than a year to fade away. Tycho Brahe documented the event. In 1955, before astronomers developed theories on whether a supernova might have a double star origin, The Urantia Book referred to it as a “double star explosion.” It was not until the 1970’s that astronomers concluded that Tycho’s Nova must have had a double star origin. In 2004, researchers found what they believe to be the companion star involved in the creation of the explosion.
Magnetic Sensitivity
The Urantia Book states that all organisms have a biologic sensitivity to the Earth's magnetic field. At the time of its publication in 1955, most of the scientific community did not believe that biological mechanisms could be sufficiently sensitive to a force as weak as the Earth’s magnetic field and then also be able to transmit this as useful information to the organism.
From Caltech’s website: “In the 1960s, Caltech paleoecologist Heinz Lowenstam startled biologists and geologists alike with the discovery that many animals do what conventional science had considered impossible: they manufacture substances such as the iron-containing mineral magnetite [the most magnetically sensitive mineral on Earth] within their bodies.”
Magnetite producing animals span the spectrum from single celled organisms all the way up to human beings. Other biologic mechanisms for magnetic sensitivity have also been discovered. Many animals are now known to be sensitive to the Earth’s magnetic field and the list keeps growing.
The Garden of Eden
In explaining religious traditions about the “Garden of Eden,” The Urantia Book says it existed as a long, narrow peninsula that jutted off the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It also explains that this peninsula sank to the bottom of the sea about 33,000 years ago. Modern technology now provides us with detailed maps of the Mediterranean basin, which were not available when The Urantia Book was published.
The maps reveal an underwater landscape that matches up with all the details provided about the Edenic peninsula.

An Image Using Recent Technology
The location, between Cyprus and Syria, is exactly where three highly active tectonic plates converge. Tectonic plate theory was not invented until a decade after The Urantia Book was published. Numerous correlations make this report especially impressive.
