Who is Halbert?
[Updated 8/15/08]
My name is Halbert. The UBtheNEWS project originated with me. I do most of the writing and preparation for the reports that are found on UBtheNEWS.
I originally created UBtheNEWS because it supports my efforts to develop the Adamson's Civilization Project. The Adamson's Civilization Project is about locating the remains of a 37,000 year-old civilization in Mesopotamia. The Urantia Book says vestiges of this civilization exist and gives some details about where to look for it. Extraordinarily unusual experiences that have been unfolding since high school led me to the conclusion that I am supposed to make some efforts in this direction. On the Adamson's Civilization page you can read the “Get a clue; then FOLLOW IT!” article, which explains the whole bizarre story. (I am not particularly interested in going there to find the site myself. I would just like to see it happen and want to do what I can to help move this along.)
As I began to visualize the process of reconnecting with high school classmates about this opportunity, I realized that a site like UBtheNEWS and my participation in developing it would be an important part of making a good first impression and thus making the most of the opportunity. However, as soon as I started to develop the site, it became apparent that the UBtheNEWS project would become my primary focus because it can be of service in so many ways beyond helping the Adamson Project move forward. Starting in January of 2007, the full range of activities associated with UBtheNEWS became the full time focus of my efforts.
The combination of pre and post UBtheNEWS experiences have made it abundantly clear to me that I am doing, in a general sense, what God wants me to do. It has all been unfolding very well and very “magically.” I doubt that I will ever find a better use of my time than this project and am dedicating all my energy and resources to it. The experience of this work has been extremely rewarding on many levels. Certainly, I have never made so many people so happy with how I am spending my time.
I have been blessed with a good education and a wide variety of life experiences that have left me well suited for this opportunity to be of service. Of course, it is essential for the success of this effort to cooperate and coordinate my activities with everyone who wants to participate in this project. UBtheNEWS is not designed to be a “one man show” in any sense. It just seemed to me that it was time for someone to take on this work in this way on a full time basis and I found myself at a point in life where I could do it.
The opportunity to make a difference was irresistible to me. Some people have commented that it was very courageous of me to redirect my life in this way. That does not really reflect my experience. My vision of what is possible through this type of effort was far too compelling to me to require much courage in choosing to undertake the “mission.” I find it very humbling to be given such wonderful work to do and just hope I can measure up to the task.
I started reading The Urantia Book at the beginning of 1981. I did an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree at Brandeis University called The Nature and Development of Religious Experience. After that I moved to Boulder, Colorado to attend The Boulder School, a two-year program of intensive Urantia Book study. In the mid 1990’s I got an MBA and law degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and practiced law for about a year and a half. Though I did not much care for the practice of law, the education was excellent for developing research skills and learning about new subjects areas that I had never thought much about before. Becoming a lawyer is as much about learning how to learn the law as it is about actually learning the laws. Because I do not have a background in the sciences, this skill set has served me very well now that I have to give myself crash courses in a new fields of science on a regular basis.
Many unusual events have transpired that I feel have prepared me for this great adventure. One of the most peculiar was a little experiment that I ran back in 2001 regarding my belief that with God all things are possible. I applied personal growth and development tools that I learned through taking some Landmark Education courses with my spiritual beliefs and set out, with as little practice as possible (this is where God comes in), to learn how to juggle on a rope blindfolded. What I learned through this experience is extremely helpful to me in my efforts with UBtheNEWS, which in so many ways is like juggling on a rope blindfolded. Both of these activities require complete faith in God to get the job done, the coordination of various skills, and the willingness to go blind into unprecedented realms of experience.
One of the biggest "take aways" from learning to juggle on a rope blindfolded by the grace of God was coming to appreciate that what I learned through that experience should be applicable to all aspects of my life. So after going through that process I started looking for ways to apply what I learned in a manner that could really make a big difference in the world. I longed for an expression of what I had learned that went beyond "simply" doing a "stupid human trick." I wanted to take it in a direction that could help everyone as much as possible. For me, the UBtheNEWS project satisfies this desire. Fortunately, someone was around to video the best exprssion of this first experiment with honoring that with God all things are possible. You can view it by clicking here.
If you would like to know more about me you can go to halbertcicles.com and/or insightsout.com. The halbertcicles.com site has many pictures of a peculiar and unusual ice phenomenon that has occurred in my life on a very regular basis since 2004. It provides information about that phenomenon and some of my thoughts on when and why unusual expressions of God’s love occur. Insightsout.com will introduce you to books that I have written on spirituality and family as well as some other material that I have written.
Bless your heart for taking the time to learn about me and this project. Your reward is a song that I recorded right before I hit the road to do the UBtheNEWS project. Please Pass The Love
Welcome to UBtheNEWS.
