A Unique Case of Credibility

Science is catching up to The Urantia Book. Since its publication in 1955 (in English), scientific advances and new discoveries increasingly have corroborated assertions in The Urantia Book about science and history that were either not generally accepted by scholarship at the time of its publication or had not yet even been considered.

The book provides detailed information on astronomy, atomic physics, geophysics, geology, genetics, paleontology, and the history of civilization. Asserting that evolution is God’s technique for creation, The Urantia Book chronicles the origin of life from single-celled organisms into plants and animals and then into human life. It also provides extensive information about the nature and organization of the physical universe. Scientific progress is increasingly verifying its assertions in these various fields of science and history.

The Urantia Book is a gift to humanity. There is no hierarchical religion associated with it and no one claims to be its author. It asserts angelic authorship. For the most part, the details of its origins were kept secret to discourage misdirected attention on that issue. What it says is infinitely more important than how it got here.

UBtheNEWS

UBtheNEWS is an independent project by Urantia Book enthusiasts. UBtheNEWS.com publishes reports on the extraordinary ways in which science has been catching up to The Urantia Book. The site also provides an overview of The Urantia Book and other educational information. The “Star Power” page documents accomplished people from all walks of life who have had a positive experience with The Urantia Book.

The UBtheNEWS project, launched in January 2007, is an unprecedented effort to inform the general public about The Urantia Book’s unique and emerging quality of credibility. Reports on UBtheNEWS.com, as well as slide presentations given throughout the United States, are provided free of charge. The entire text of the Urantia Book can be read and listened to online for free.

The Urantia Book is more about revealing truth than presenting facts. An exquisite theology, cosmology, and philosophy are revealed in this extremely informative and insightful text. It also recounts all the years of Jesus’ life and, in doing so, clears up many misunderstandings about his life, death, and teachings. Integrating theology, cosmology, science and history, The Urantia Book does much to harmonize the reality of a loving God with the peculiar circumstances of our existence here on earth.

UBtheNEWS Reports

UBtheNEWS reports are written for people who are unfamiliar with The Urantia Book and do not have a background in science. The presentation of the reports places an emphasis on directly quoting the source material used to corroborate information in The Urantia Book. Some of the reports necessarily become rather lengthy in order to fully explain the more scientifically sophisticated subjects. When this occurs, Condensed Reports are created to provide an “Executive Summary” of the material.

The Topic Summaries page provides a brief overview of each report. Reports are categorized so you can learn about the most impressive corroborations first. Science is catching up to The Urantia Book more quickly than reports can be written. The reports get updated when scientific advances lend additional support to the topics.

A Select Summary of UBtheNEWS Reports

Adam and Eve

The Urantia Book says that the first human beings evolved about 1,000,000 years ago. It says that “Adam and Eve” lived about 37,500 years ago and were genetically superior to everyone else. According to The Urantia Book, they hold a special place in human history because their descendents kept their bloodline pure for many generations and because numerous superior civilizations developed as a result of their intentional plan to grow in numbers and then gradually integrate with the rest of humanity.

Recent genetics research parallels The Urantia Book’s account of the Adam and Eve story in six different ways and also correlates with the evolution of the first human beings.

The Garden of Eden

The Urantia Book says the Garden of Eden existed as a long, narrow peninsula that jutted off the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and that it sank to the bottom of the sea about 33,000 years ago.

When The Urantia Book was published, we did not have detailed maps of the Mediterranean basin. Today’s advanced sonar technology now reveals an underwater landscape that matches up with all the details provided about this peninsula.

An Image Using Recent Technology

This location, between Cyprus and Syria, is precisely at the convergence of three highly active tectonic plates. Tectonic plate theory, however, was not invented until about ten years after The Urantia Book was published.

The Inner Ionosphere

Electrons that break off of atoms are known as ions. The Urantia Book asserts that an “inner ionosphere” exists about seven miles above sea level. Atmospheric researchers have long held that the only region able to support the existence of an ionosphere starts at about fifty miles high. This is where the Aurora Borealis appears. Excited ions are necessary in order for luminescence in the atmosphere to occur.

In the late 1980’s the “blue jet” phenomenon was finally documented. Because blue jets are flashes of blue light that shoot out of the top of storm clouds, pictures proving their existence were not obtained until the Space Shuttles and other high flying aircraft were finally able to capture them on video.

Previous undocumented reports by pilots had been dismissed because the existence of blue jets powerfully calls into question longstanding beliefs about the atmospheric conditions necessary for an ionosphere to exist. The blue jet phenomenon is perfectly consistent with and corroborative of The Urantia Book’s assertion regarding the existence of an inner ionosphere.

Tycho’s Nova

In 1572 a supernova occurred that was so bright it could be seen in the sky during the day. The Urantia Book states that this supernova had a double star origin. This means that one star attracted matter from another star until a critical mass was reached, causing a tremendous explosion.

It was not until the 1970’s that astronomers concluded that Tycho’s Nova must have had a double star origin. In 2004, researchers found what they believe to be the companion star involved in the creation of the explosion.

Shroud of Turin

The Shroud of Turin Report is distinct from all the other reports. The Urantia Book says the angels performed a time-accelerated elemental disintegration of Jesus’ body and this has intriguing correlations with the image found on the Shroud of Turin. Given the broader context of all the reports published on UBtheNEWS, if anything, The Urantia Book gives more credibility to the Shroud of Turin than the other way around.
